Me in a nutshell...
Proud Norwegian, doing-the-best-I-can-mum of pre-mid- and -end puberters while adoring their perfect imperfections, celiac and on a mission to heal the gut, absolutely fascinated about the world of the microbiome and how everything is connected, passionate all-year-sea-swimmer and a beach-therapy believer, always looking out for the perfect one-coffee-a-day-shot, truth and root-cause seeker...
I am pretty sure all of the amazing coaches out there have their own personal healing story to tell. As it happens I have one of my own and if you are interested you can read it here...
12 years ago I was „finally“ diagnosed with celiac disease. Not that I was happy about it, but at least it suddenly all made sense to me (well not all I must admit, but at least much more).
I must have had if for decades before the doctor (or actually, to put it straight - my Mum) found out that the root-cause of my problems was caused by gluten damaging my gut.
The signs had been many... bloated tummy, diarrhoea, weight loss, low iron, low blood pressure, spider veins, acne, karris, brain fog, lack of energy... But then again, all signs that easily could be blamed on by stress, pregnancies, genes, the weather, long nights... you name it… the list of explanations or excuses is long! However, looking back, the most frightening of it all, is that the only advice I was ever given was to keep away from gluten. And so I did! Thinking that everything would be fine… little did I know that I kept damaging my gut and made it all even worse.
I was told to be patient, and I was… but after 7 years I found myself in a terrible state. I started thinking that there might be more to it and questioned WHY my health did not skyrocket even though I had been keeping a very strict gluten-free diet for years. The answers I got was more complex and exciting than I ever could imagine. This made me study to take a degree in Kinesiology to find out more about how everything is connected and how the body keeps the score about everything. Followed by a degree in holistic health focused on nutrition and lifestyle.
I have found a lot of answers on my way, but am still eager to learn more. There is so much more to it than just avoiding gluten. It is about rebuilding a 400 square meter area, something that requires a lot of effort, knowledge, endurance and extra love and care. And I am still working on it every day.
